Hello everyone! I am an educator who is interested in sharing thoughts and ideas about the role of information in career choice and education of young students.
WHAT PARENTS, GUARDIAN AND STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MEDICINE.
Being a doctor is a dream that a large number would have loved to fulfill but due to a factor or another the direction changed. Some in the long run are grateful for the change in direction while some still have an ill feeling of not achieving the dream. Whether you achieve this or not, a key question that I will like you to ponder on as you go through this article is: are you enjoying the direction you are now or you are still frustrated figure even with a decent pay? Enjoying your path is one thing that can increase your productivity and
In recent times, virtually everyone wants to get into MEDICINE because it is thought to be a lucrative investment especially for parents, guardians and students living in developing countries around the world. This surge had crippled the relevance of other biological careers although this is not so in some advance countries where these biological careers formed a bedrock for advancement in health sector or medical field. Therefore, the increasing competitiveness in the field of MEDICINE had given a narrow-minded approach to parents and students all in chase of medicine because of MONEY and PRESTIGE.
Passion, being able to enjoy the process before and after becoming a doctor had been neglected by parents, educators, students and guardians making a larger percentage of those studying to be left frustrated and always worried although they are financially stable. Perhaps you have tried many times to get into the medical field, particularly medicine and you have failed several times; don’t think of yourself has incapable it is just because you have a low competitive advantage maybe in terms of MONEY, ACCESS TO MATERIALS AND ENVIRONMENT. For instance, most rich PARENTS can comfortably send their wards into top private medical schools even though the student is not capable but money had given his/her a competitive advantage.
Finally, parents, guardians and students should not put unnecessary pressure on themselves as result of chasing medicine by all means or seeing it has means to an end. The student involved should think deep and weigh the options and motivation behind medicine before venturing into it. Most importantly, parent should note that there are skills that can bring millions into the account of their children without even entering medical school. Having a source that makes you money comfortably aside your main job can make any of your chosen career enjoyable and comfortable because either there is money or not you will always be happy to attend to your patient as a doctor.
A video of a doctor in United Kingdom (Ali abdaal) who is a popular YOUTUBE influencer birth the inspiration to pen these words. He asked his friends who were also doctors in UK that: if they earn $1 000 000 from another source will they still come to the hospital everyday but to his surprise 90% out 100 said they will not. Being a doctor does not necessarily make one a millionaire to my PARENTS, GUARDIANS AND STUDENTS. And if you are frustrated about a career or chosen path. Please change direction and explore other things.
